A brave Dubai policeman who helped save a man stuck in a burning car, is being hailed as a hero on social media.

According to Khaleej Times, sergeant Mohammed Ahmed Mahfouz, who is a member of the transport and rescue's difficult tasks team, was off duty and on his way home when the incident took place.

However, when the policeman spotted a burning vehicle on the Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road, he immediately rushed to the driver's aid.

A video capturing the incident shows him cautiously approaching the car and trying to pull its door open. After all attempts at opening the door failed, a water tanker, which was luckily passing by the road, stoped to help out.

Bystanders can then be seen helping Mahfouz extinguish the flames using a hose connected to the tanker. Once the flames were put down, the car door was broken open and the motorist was pulled out to safety.
