In case we needed another reason to adore Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab, he went ahead and presented a couture line that seemed to be inspired by the hit HBO series Game of Thrones (GoT).
At the Paris Haute Couture Week on Wednesday, Saab showcased his Haute Couture Fall/Winter collection for 2017/2018, which was titled "A Tale of Fallen Kings".
According to Saab, the collection pays tribute to medieval fashion, but GoT fans have a feeling Saab may have made a muse of the series itself.
Saab's official Twitter account wrote that the idea behind the show was to "capture the opulence and wild beauty of medieval times, and translate it into fiercely elegant feminine silhouettes".
But GoT fans couldn't help but notice the stark (pun-intended) similarity between Saab's gowns and the costumes donned by GoT's female characters.
From the capes, hoods and gilded crowns, to the long embellished coats and velvet fabrics, GoT fans were reminded of the series' epic looks.
"There were shawls fit for a Stark, draped gowns Daenerys Targaryen might've worn, gilded accents that match Cersei Lannister's new regal look as Queen, and blood-red pieces that fit right in with Melisandre's aesthetic," Erica Gonzales wrote on fashion magazine >Harpers Bazaar. "Together, they made the collection come off as a high-fashion remix of Thrones."
Gonzales also noted that the show's theme, "A Tale of Fallen Kings," hints at the series, in which many royals die.
Here's a look at some of the similarities
It remains unclear whether Saab had actually planned on bringing GoT fashion to life or this is all just a coincidence. Either way, one fact remains undisputed: his gowns are painfully stunning.
