If you think Arabic is going to disappear anytime soon, you are definitely wrong.

Dubai has launched an initiative to force businesses to use Arabic as the main language on menus, invoices, and price tags.

Launched by the The Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection, the initiative is in line with Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum 's vision to make UAE a center of excellence in Arabic.

But what about all the expats?

"Consumers who don't know English also should be able to read and understand what is written on the invoices they receive," Executive Director of CCCP Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah said in a statement .

On the bright side, businesses could choose to add another language of their choice...

But businesses have to implement this by the beginning of 2017!

In 2013, restaurants across the UAE were told to use Arabic menus as well with a 100,000 dirhams fine for those who don't comply. The decision at the time also meant to make Arabic the official language in all outlets. But, I guess it didn't work out the first time around.

Inshallah, it will this time.
