American action star Matt Damon, best known for the "Bourne" series, is afraid of heights.

But he didn't always know that he was afraid.

He discovered that fact at the age of 34, when he visited Dubai.

On the Late Late Show with James Corden, Damon shared how he discovered his fear.

He was touring Dubai's luxurious Burj Al Arab Hotel when this action star discovered his limits.

"We weren’t staying there, this is a 7-star hotel and the only chance we got to go in the Burj. We get up to the top and we go out on the pad and we start walking towards the edge and my wife goes all the way to the edge and I literally froze and went full lizard brain, 10 feet from it," Damon said.

He continued:

"My legs just didn't work and she thought I was joking. I didn't know I was afraid of heights, I had never been up that high. It was safe in the sense that there’s a chain link fence that would catch you. It would catch a helicopter. But I still couldn’t stand on the edge."

It seems Dubai can leave – shall we say unique? – impressions on anyone, even the hardest of action stars.

It's okay Damon, Dubai's tallest, biggest, most impressive and most lavish everything was bound to freak out someone eventually.
