Dubai Parks and Resorts has announced that its mega-project, the highly anticipated theme park resort that is set to open in October, will be the Middle East's first "smart" theme park.
The company announced that it has teamed up with Emirati telecom giant Etisalat to create the Middle East's "first-of-its-kind integrated ‘smart’ theme park resort," which will also be the region's largest-ever amusement park.
The 25 million square foot resort, whose development was mandated by UAE vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, is strategically located on Sheikh Zayed Road between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
In line with the UAE's vision to pioneer a digital economy and Dubai's mission to become a 'smart' city, innovative digital technologies will dominate the guest's experience at the large-scale theme park resort.
The two collaborating companies will implement omni-channel customer interactions through mobile devices, smart kiosks, digital signage, web portals and RFID wristbands.
In addition, end-to-end smart solutions and applications will be implemented at the resort, which include smart ticketing, smart parking, digital payments and unified marketing and engagement, as well as connected transportation, food and beverage, retail and digital entertainment.
“‘Experience Amazing’ is an ideal that drives every aspect of Dubai Parks and Resorts. From unique attractions, to exceptional cuisine, to memorable retail options, we aim to make every visit extraordinary," CEO of Dubai Park and Resorts Raed Kajoor Al-Nuaimi said.
“Today, we live in a digital world and our guests expect a fully integrated digital experience. From booking tickets, to finding parking spaces, to choosing rides with lower wait times or deciding on the right cuisine to eat, this collaboration will facilitate an unforgettable trip for visitors with few simple clicks on their smart devices."
The giant resort will include three separate theme parks, one water park, a hotel and Riverland Dubai, a retail and dining walkway that will connect all areas together.
It will feature Motiongate Dubai, a theme park based on the theme of popular Hollywood film characters from DreamWorks Animation, Sony Pictures Studios and Lionsgate, and Bollywood Parks Dubai, which is based on the theme of popular Bollywood films.
Moreover, the resort will include Legoland Dubai and Legoland Water Park, both of which will be dedicated to the world-famous Lego theme, as well as the Polynesian-themed Lapita Hotel.
The ambitious project, which will cost 10.5 billion dirhams, is expected to be one of, if not the UAE's biggest unveiling in 2016. Aiming to create a wold-class, year-round, global entertainment destination, Dubai Parks and Resorts has estimated the number of ticketed visits to reach 6.7 million in 2017, the first full year of operation.
