A fire erupted at the Mövenpick hotel in Jumeirah Beach Residence Monday morning, marking the third blaze in the area this week.
According to tweets posted by the hotel, the flames were swiftly tamed and no injuries were reported.
Gulf News reports that the "minor fire" appears to have broken out around 10 a.m. local time on the second floor of the hotel.
In a video shared on social media, smoke can be seen rising from the building, gusting down the main street.
The Dubai Civil Defence reportedly evacuated the premises and controlled the flames just in time.
"All guests were safely evacuated," the hotel wrote on Twitter. The follow-up tweet read, "Our Guests and colleagues are back in the hotel.
Third fire in a week
This is considered the third fire to burst near the Dubai Marina area in less than one week.
Last Friday, a massive fire >blazed through Dubai Marina's 87-storey Torch Tower, causing mass evacuations.
One witness told CNN that it appeared like 30 to 40 residences were affected by the early Friday morning blaze, prompting residents to stay in hotels until further notice.
According to Gulf News, an investigation into the cause of the blaze is still underway.
A second fire was reported at Dubai Marina on Sunday, August 6, when a minor fire broke out around noon at the Tiger Tower. The fire erupted on the 53rd floor of the 73-storey tower and was tamed within minutes.
According to >The Independent, Captain Amer Abdulwahab al-Qahtani of the Dubai Civil Defense said the fire might have been ignited by "an improperly disposed [of] cigarette" or the emirate's sweltering heat.
No major casualties were reported in either fire.
The UAE has been >plagued by a series of high-rise fires in the past couple years, leading the nation to >implement stricter building and fire codes. The highest-profile blaze took place on New Year's Eve 2015 when the luxury Address Hotel in Downtown Dubai >caught fire.
"It’s a little bit scary"
Residents have expressed concern over the recent infernos.
A Tiger Tower resident, Mary Soliman, told Gulf News that Sunday's fire marked the third one she has heard of since living in the area.
"It’s a little bit scary [...] We (residents) get quite anxious and quite scared," she said.
"I panicked because these fires happened just a few days apart. It’s really frustrating," another resident, who remained anonymous, said.
