Droidcon, the world's biggest Android developer conference, will come to the Gulf for the first time next month.
Dubai's Internet City will host more than 20 international speakers, from companies such as Microsoft, Facebook and Intel, on April 14-16 focusing on the best of Android development.
Since the first Droidcon in Berlin in 2009, the event has been held in major cities around the globe – including London, Amsterdam, Bangalore, Tunis and Ankara.
From the convention's mission statement:
The idea behind the droidcon conferences is to support the Android platform and create a global network for developers and companies. We offer high-class talks from different parts of the ecosystem, including core development, embedded solutions, augmented reality, business solutions and games.
To this end, the agenda includes lectures on cross platform development by Jason Poor, open source engineer at Microsoft; monetizing apps by Connor Corwin with Facebook; augmented reality in app by Giles Fayad with Qaulcomm; and tons more.
Landing the premier Android developers' conference is just more evidence that Dubai's march to being the tech hub of the Middle East - in addition to the arts hub and the hub of basically everything – is picking up speed.
