Prosecutors in Dubai have won their appeal against an electrician whose initial 5 years prison sentence was doubled to 10 years for killing his co-worker with a razor because he had smelly feet.
According to Gulf News, the 22-year-old Pakistani electrician and his fellow countryman were resting in an air-conditioned room during their lunch break in July last year.
The co-worker rested on the floor and put his feet up facing the electrician’s face before the latter asked him to remove his feet because they smelled bad.
When the co-worker refused, the two men had an enraged argument that led to a fight before other colleagues intervened and stopped the brawl.
Shortly after the initial incident, the 22-year-old went to a nearby warehouse at a construction site, came back with a razor and stabbed the co-worker in his neck.
Surveillance footage shows the electrician hiding the razor behind him before he stabbed the victim several times.
Medical reports said the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition where he suffered excessive bleeding and slipped into a coma.
Despite several operations and extensive recovery procedures, he died due to his acute injuries on July 31.
Presiding Judge Eisa Al Sharif sentenced the accused to 10 years in jail.
He will be deported after serving his punishment.
