The Dubai Design and Fashion Council announced this week that it would host an inaugural Dubai Design Week in October, aiming to showcase leading regional talent to a local and international audience.

The event, to be held Oct. 26-31, will take place in the Dubai Design District (D3), which also hosts the annual Dubai Design Days, a commercial event that brings leading international designers and companies to the emirate.

Design Weeks have become a growing trend across the Middle East, as regional governments have invested in growing the creative sector of their economies. Beirut Design Week is currently underway this week.

Dubai Design Week will held in conjunction with Design Downtown, a commercial design fair.

Further details about the event, which will be managed by Art Dubai, will be made available at the official launch on June 9 at Urban Majalis, a quarterly industry event hosted by DDFC.
