Dubai's Middle East Film and Comic Con has announced its first celebrity guests for the April convention - and you can't get bigger than the headliner, William Shatner.
The convention, which will hold its fourth edition on April 9-11 at the Dubai World Trade Center, made the announcement Monday morning.
Shatner, who starred in the original 1960s Star Trek series and returned to the franchise a decade later for the feature films, will be meeting fans, signing autographs and holding a Q&A session at the festival .
The Star Trek legend will be joined by a newer Trekkie - Karl Urban.
Urban, who plays Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy in J.J. Abrams reboot of the Star Trek films, is sure to be a hit with Comic Con regulars. After starting his career with regular spots on "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" and "Xena: The Warrier Princess," the New Zealander player Eomer in The Lord of the Rings trilogy before landing in the new Star Trek.
The Trekkies will be joined by Sam J. Jones, star of the iconic 1980s "Flash Gordon" film, along with a performance on April 10 by the band 30 Seconds to Mars. Comic Con also offers talks from regional and international comic book artists, along with more merchandise from cult entertainment and comics than you could possibly imagine.
