Amal and George Clooney are now proud parents to twins Ella and Alexander.
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the celebrity couple announced the arrival of the newborns in a heartfelt yet humorous statement that read:
“This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”
Speaking to Arab News, Amal’s mother, Baria Alamuddin said she was thrilled with the news.
“I am the proudest, happiest grandmother in the universe,” she said.
Alamuddin, a successful Lebanese-British human rights lawyer, and Clooney, an Academy award-winning Italian-American actor, married in Italy, in 2014.
The couple announced the pregnancy in February and kept a low profile in the past few months.
As soon as news of the birth of the twins began circulating on social media, thousands took to the platforms to congratulate the new parents.
It's time to bring out the meghle...
In the Arab world, mainly the Levant, meghle - a traditional cinnamon and spice based pudding - is served on happy occasions, including the celebration of new births.
Given that Amal is of Lebanese origin, she might be serving the dish to her guests and people are already offering to lend her a helping hand.
Amal in need of a meghle recipe?
Just in case she really is, people are sharing a few recipes...
And we're sharing one too...
Mabrouk ya Amal w ya George!
