On Thursday, Gebran Bassil attended the World Economic Forum to discuss Lebanon's current economic woes among other problems the country's government has failed to resolve in decades.
He took part in a panel, moderated by CNBC's Hadley Gamble, which focused much on the politics of things in Lebanon. Gamble did not give Bassil a break during the panel, >dodging his statements with one sharp comment after the other. He wasn't just subject to roasting in Davos; the grilling continued on the interwebs and will probably live on there forever.
If you haven't watched the panel discussion - or parts of it at least - then you probably should (before or after reading this compilation). Here are some of the best posts shared following the Thursday meet-up:
1. On the friend who paid for Bassil's trip
2. On gifts sent to oneself
3. On heated grills, literally
4. On nepotism
5. On interruptions
6. On losing one's train of thought
7. On missing the point
8. On bullsh*tting your way through
9. On overusing the phrase "you know"
The FPM leader said the phrase "you know" seven times in two minutes. That's a bit too much, you know? He said it at [Min: 41:18], [Min: 41:55], [Min: 42:13], [Min: 42:25], [Min: 42:29], [Min: 42:39], and [Min: 43:02]. And that's not counting all the other "you knows" uttered during the 60-minute panel discussion.
