Asian Football Confederation President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain has officially launched his bid to replace outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
The Bahraini royal will be competing against fellow Arab royal Prince Ali bin Hussein of Jordan for the organization's top spot. All contenders are required to officially submit their bids for the position Monday. Prince Ali officially threw his hat in the ring earlier this month.
The election comes as FIFA faces the largest scandal in its history with numerous top members indicted for corruption and racketeering and outgoing president Sepp Blatter under criminal investigation.
