Earlier this month, a UK-based Instagram user> broke the internet after they posted a stock image of an egg with the intention of beating Jenner's record of 18 million likes on the platform.

But this week, Lebanese comedian Farid Hobeiche created his own version of the online trend ... using a photo of hummus and pitting against an image of singer Maya Diab

Captioning his post, the entertainer wrote:

"@mayadiab got 200k likes on her look yesterday in Celebrity Duets. Please help me get more likes on this Hummus plate. #lebanon #mostlikedhummus."

Hobeiche's satirical take on the record-breaking egg incident definitely caught people's attention.

But his post is still far from reaching Diab's record and has so far amassed 28,241 likes.

It all started with this post

It didn't take long before people took note of it ... including Maya Diab

Now, some didn't quite like the initiative

"You've taken this too far. My grandma is the only person who hasn't imitated the world record egg."

To put it nicely:

Many were all there for it, though

Because, well, hummus

A few reacted with humor and puns

"This is eggcellent"

No dream is too big, but ...

"This is a bit farfetched."

Some had suggestions other than hummus

"Shawarma would get more likes."

"Arguileh would have been a record breaking picture"

Others will always root for our beloved chickpea dish
