The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed met with Pope Francis in the Vatican Thursday to discuss religious co-existence and emphasize the UAE's role in combatting Islamic extremism.
The visit comes months after Minister of State for Tolerance Lubna Al Qasimi extended an invitation to the Pope to visit the UAE, which the Holy See is said to have accepted, though the date remains undetermined.
Prince Mohamed, who also serves as deputy supreme commander of the UAE's Armed Forces, made the announcement via his official Twitter account on Wednesday.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, are part of Sheikh Mohamed's delegation to the Vatican.
