A Saudi prince was flogged in prison this week by police in Jeddah.
In addition to the court-ordered lashes, the prince was sentenced to prison for an unidentified crime as reported by the local daily Okaz, according to Arabian Business.
The punishment comes less than a month after another prince was executed and demonstrates that the kingdom isn't shying away from punishing members of the royal family.
>In October, Prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabeer was convicted of shooting another Saudi citizen and >was executed in Riyadh. The prince pleaded guilty to shooting Adel al-Mohaimeed during a brawl four years ago in al-Thumama region on the outskirts of Riyadh.>Prince Turki was "from one of the most prominent branches of the royal family after that of the direct descendants of King Abdulaziz," according to Prince Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud, another member of the royal family, >in an interview with the New York Times .
>"Justice is the basis of governance. May God protect our ruler and keep people walking in the correct path."
The execution shocked many, as members of the royal family don't often face punishment and their execution is extremely rare in the kingdom.
