Farouk I, Egypt's 10th and last king from the Muhammad Ali Dynasty, ruled the country from 1936 until 1952.
Corruption was rampant, and the king was blamed for the Egyptian army's defeat in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, leading to his eventual overthrow in 1952.
However, during his reign, Egypt, particularly its elite, was often seen as glamorous, chic, and alluring.
