Alwaleed Bin Talal, savvy businessman and grandson of the founder of Saudi Arabia, had previously  announced that he would donate most of his wealth – some $32 billion – to charity. Kingdom Holdings has a 5 percent share in the giant media corporation.

7. Mövenpick, Four Seasons, Fairmont Hotels

Kingdom Holdings owns the Movempick and Fairmont hotel chains as well as a number of Four Seasons branches, including the Savoy in Lodon.

8. Citigroup

The Saudi prince's first acquisition, made in 1991, of then-crumbling Citigroup brought him to the spotlight.
