I don't know why, but whenever a travel destination becomes slightly popular among Lebanese, the entire country starts planning to visit that certain place.
But, when it comes to honeymoon destinations, that's just on another level of jala'aan. All newlywed couples visit almost the exact same places when getting hitched, so that it's just become too predictable.
They are beautiful destinations, I cannot disagree with that. But I kinda feel like I've been to all of them from the numerous posts I've seen take over my timeline.
Here are 7 beautiful honeymoon destinations that Lebanese couples have killed, but at the same time, you keep wanting to visit:
1. Maldives
Known for it's romantic beach setting, the island in the Indian ocean recently jumped on the popularity bandwagon for newlywed couples in Lebanon. Considering visitors to the Maldives do not need to apply for visa prior to arrival, regardless of the country of origin. The destination is an easy one for Lebanese, since there are only a limited number of places Lebanese can visit without a visa .
As of 2007, more than 8 million tourists had visited Maldives.
2. Sri Lanka
Of course, it doesn't stop at Maldives. A trip like that usually comes with a dual country honeymoon, where the next stop is... you guessed it Sri Lanka! The island is also known for its picturesque views and lovely beaches. Jungle Beach Resort, anyone?
3. Thailand
It seems as though Lebanese can only get romantic in beach settings! Thailand is yet another destination newlyweds love to visit. Pictures of the couple riding elephants and roaming around Ki Phi Phi Don sound familiar?
4. Santorini/Mykonos, Greece
Another island! Santorini and Mykonos have also recently received popularity among Lebanese for being the ultimate honeymoon destination.
5. Venice, Italy
Although Italy – and Venice in specific – is a global touristic destination, Lebanese people have outdone the "let's get romantic in Italy" scenario too many times to remember. Come on, you know it's true.
Being home to an average of 50,000 tourists a day as of 2007, it is probably worth a visit. But, maybe just not for your honeymoon?
6. Paris, France
You know this is probably the oldest, most cliche destinations for Lebanese couples. A picture of the couple kissing with the Eiffel Tower right behind them is kind of a must. Ino we get it, you're a romantic couple.
In 2015, Paris received more than 16 million visits, and was the third busiest airline destination in the world.
7. Antalya, Turkey
Let's put Istanbul aside for a bit. Knowing Lebanese love water honeymoon destinations, a stop to Antalya is necessary akeed.
