Snow in the desert, what?
A project, dubbed The Heart of Europe, spanning six islands will bring Europe to the UAE's doorsteps. It's part of a larger touristic plan to build a man-made archipelago that would encompass the world's cultures. The Heart of Europe, helmed by Kleindienst Group, will be a sleek recreation of Europe's diverse landscape. The real estate agency is working on bringing Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, St. Petersburg, and Sweden to Dubai.
This experience will not be devoid of climate integration, as the group is working on technology to make it rain and snow during the summer!
You're probably thinking:
But really, we're not. And to prove it, we're going to give you a few pointers for battling the cold.
1. Turn off that damn A/C, it's freezing!
Kleindienst Group partnered with Europe's largest research organization, Fraunhofer Institute, to produce technology that would make it rain at 27 degrees. While this temperature may seem mild for certain people, in the UAE, that's practically winter. According to an interview with Emirates 24/7, the technology aims to interfere with the temperature, humidity and wind.
2. Have you heard of layering?
There will be snow on the island of Switzerland. According to the real estate group, snow will be technically produced through water - meaning it wouldn't need to be below 0 degrees for you to enjoy the snow. This also means although you won't need to wear as many clothes as Joey there, you'll have to at least wear two layers of clothes.
3. Get your snowman game on
While you won't be able to actually play in the snow until 2018, building a snowman is not easy business. Just ask Anna from "Frozen." Wear some gloves while you build your personal Olaf and make sure to give it eyes and a nose.
4. Umbrellas = Your new BFF
If you decide Switzerland isn't the right European island for you, you better load up on those umbrellas. The technology set by Fraunhofer Institute will see water raining down from the top of buildings through concealed pipes. You can also ditch the umbrellas for a more cheesy/romantic setup.
5. Treat yo car, treat yo self
The real estate group is also working on an advance drainage system that aims to "get the water off the streets right away" in order to avoid the risk of humidity. This means that you won't have to deal with overflowed streets and the traffic that comes from it. Yay!
