5 films you didn't know were shot in Egypt

Egypt's historical significance in the world has turned it into a hot spot for Hollywood film directors over the years. 

Because let's face it, Egypt adds an extra layer of awesome to everything. 

How many of these did you actually know were shot in Egypt?

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer is one of those films even Marvel Comics superhero fans may not have known had a little face time with Egyptians. 

Released in 2007, the film was shot in 14 different locations, one of them being Giza, Egypt. 

Released in 2009, the film was shot in Egypt at the Giza Pyramid complex and Luxor. The team spent three days shooting the scenes there. Supposedly, it was "highly secretive." 

A crew of 150 Americans and "several dozen local Egyptians" allowed for a smooth set. 

The government's approval was required prior to shooting at the pyramids. 

Released in 1992, the biographical film Malcolm X delves deep into the life of African-American activist. 

Malcolm X visits Egypt and is filmed when worshiping at the Mohammed Ali Mosque. 

However, there were scenes in the film that feature Mecca. These scenes were actually shot there. However, a second unit (all Islamic crew) was hired to enter the city. 

Released in 2010, the biographical spy drama Fair Game starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn made it out to Cairo, Egypt for certain scenes in the film. 

The undercover operations in the film take place in Cairo among other places like Baghdad and Kuala Lampur. 

The film also features Egyptian actor Hanaa Abdel Fattah, who plays the role of an Iraqi nuclear scientist disguised as a professor at Cairo University and Khaled Al Nabawy, who also assumes the role of an Iraqi scientist in the film. 

Released in 2008, Jumper is a science fiction film featuring Samuel L Jackson, Hayden Christensen among others. 

The film was actually shot in 14 different countries.
