This year, the Arab world has been quite eager to break as many records as possible.
People from across the region set their minds to do the odd and unusual in 2017 but decided to take it only one step further ... until they got that blue-sealed certificate.
Going through Guinness World Records wasn't as easy as it sounds but we made it possible to compile all records that were achieved in the region for this year.
Here are the GWR that took place across the Arab world in 2017:
1. Lebanon - Longest table
At 2,184 meters long, Lebanon broke the Guinness World Record of "longest table" on June 9, 2017.
Ajialouna Organization set up this iftar table during the holy month of Ramadan, gathering >over 5,000 people from all over the country at Beirut's Waterfront.
2. Lebanon - Longest party
Nurai, a nightclub in Lebanon, broke the Guinness World Record for ">longest party" from August 28 until August 30, 2017. The party lasted for 56 hours.
3. Lebanon - Most TV interviews conducted in 12 hours
Lebanese visually impaired TV presenter Dalia Freyfer successfully conducted >91 interviews in 24 consecutive hours on Télé Liban - Lebanon’s national broadcaster - on January 8, 2017.
Individually, she broke the Guinness World Record for "most TV interviews conducted in 12 hours" which numbered to 43 in 12 hours.
4. Lebanon - Most simultaneous car donuts by the same driver
With all the records it broke, Lebanon was on fire this summer.
Lebanese drifter Naji Bou Hassan broke the Guinness World Record of "most simultaneous car donuts by the same driver" with five full circles, on September 3, 2017.
5. Lebanon - Largest stereoscopic 3D projection
Beirut Cultural Festivals broke the Guinness World Record of "largest stereoscopic 3D projection" which measured 2446 m², on June 23, 2017.
It was achieved by Atrium Architecture and BCF.
6. Saudi Arabia - Longest line of photographs
Even though Dubai had broken the record less than a month prior, Saudi Arabia topped it with just an additional 70 cm.
HP Inc. in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, stole the title of "longest line of photographs" on September 23, 2017. The wall stood at 1,726 m and was completed during the launch of HP's Sprocket.
7. Saudi Arabia - Largest flag unfurled underwater
On Saudi National Day, ARC Ataa Alresalah went overboard - or under it for that matter - to break this record.
On September 29, 2017, Saudi Arabia broke the Guinness World Record of "largest flag unfurled underwater" which measured 90.3 m².
8. Saudi Arabia - Largest simultaneous car tyre burnout
The record attempt and its success took place on September 23, 2017, in front of thousands of attendees.
Saudi Arabia broke the Guinness World Record of "largest simultaneous car tyre burnout" with 119 participants taking part in the event.
9. Saudi Arabia - Largest picture mosaic formed by people
With 4500 people gathering in Saudi Arabia on November 14, 2017, Abeer Medical Group achieved the Guinness World Record for the "largest picture mosaic formed by people."
10. Saudi Arabia - Largest carpet of flowers/plants
At 16,134.0 m², Yanbu Flower Festival in Saudi Arabia broke the Guinness World Record for the "largest carpet of flowers/plants" on March 14, 2017.
The large compilation was made of 1.8 million flowers of 14 different types.
11. Saudi Arabia - Largest aluminum sculpture
Novartis Oncology, a medical company specializing in cancer patients, achieved the Guinness World Records of "largest aluminum sculpture" on October 7, 2017.
The statue - 7.71 m tall, 5.03 m long, 3.95 m wide - was made in the shape of a jackhammer to represent "the powerful tool breaking through cancer," and was presented at the Novartis Oncology Breast Cancer Summit in Saudi Arabia.
12. UAE - Largest OLED screen
The UAE's attempt broke not only one, but three Guinness World Records this year.
"Largest OLED screen, 709.69 m²," "largest high-definition video wall, 709.69 m²," and "highest resolution video wall, 1,700,352,000 pixels," were the acquired titles on August 2, 2017, at the Underwater Zoo in the Dubai Aquarium.
13. UAE - First unmanned smart police station
On September 18, 2017, Dubai Police inaugurated "the first unmanned smart police station" which operates 24/7 with 27 key services.
14. UAE - Longest underwater live radio broadcast (unsupported)
The "longest underwater live radio broadcast (unsupported)" went on for 5 hours, 25 minutes, and 25 seconds by New Zealander Stu Tolan from 104.8 Channel 4 at Atlantis, in Dubai, on May 13, 2017.
15. UAE - Longest line of horses
On UAE's 46th National Day, which falls on December 2, Dubai Police broke the Guinness World Record of "longest line of horses" which was formed by 116 horses.
16. UAE - Largest human image of a boat
India International School L.L.C. Sharjah, also in the UAE, gathered 4,882 participants to break the Guinness World Record of "largest human image of a boat," on November 14, 2017.
17. UAE - Largest human image of a waving national flag
With 4,130 participants, GEMS Education broke the Guinness World Record of "largest human image of a waving national flag," on November 28, 2017.
18. UAE - Heaviest vehicle pulled by hair
Emirati Mahmood Shamshun Al Arab broke the Guinness World Record of "heaviest vehicle pulled by hair" on December 2, 2017.
It weighed 10,380 kilograms and was achieved on UAE National Day.
19. UAE - Most people performing push-ups
On February 16, 2017, Ajman Municipality & Planning Department in the UAE, gathered 1,645 participants to break the Guinness World Record for the "most people performing push-ups simultaneously."
20. UAE - Most nationalities in a yoga lesson
During Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30 on November 18, 2017, 112 people gathered at the Retreat Palm Dubai MGallery, Sofitel in the UAE to break the Guinness World Record for the "most nationalities in a yoga lesson."
21. UAE - Most people contributing to a stamp image
Automobile company Chevrolet in the UAE broke the Guinness World Record for the "most people contributing to a stamp image" with 4,948 participants on November 29, 2017.
22. UAE - Largest LED structure
The launch of Samsung Note 8 was quite the record-breaker in the UAE on September 10, 2017.
The Guinness World Record for the "largest LED structure" consisted of 37,965 LED lights.
23. UAE - Most participants in a human "marble" run
One team-building exercise won Johnson & Johnson Middle East the Guinness World Record for the "most participants in a human "marble" run."
On March 1, 2017, 510 people gathered in Dubai to break this record.
24. UAE - Most people performing burpees
On November 5, 2017, during Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30, Dubai Police gathered 1,455 people to break the Guinness World Record for the "most people performing burpees."
25. UAE - Most nationalities having a continental breakfast
To celebrate the Year of Giving, Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar hosted >101 nationalities for breakfast in Dubai.
On April 13, 2017, the Guinness World Record for "most nationalities having a continental breakfast" was set.
26. UAE - Longest chain of magnets
Indian Ramkumar Sarangapani took over two hours to assemble 50,201 magnets on September 29, 2017, in Dubai.
With this huge number, he broke the Guinness World Record for the "longest chain of magnets."
27. UAE - Most wood collected in three minutes in Minecraft (PC)
Indian Rohin Bajaj, a previous GWR title holder, broke another record on September 5, 2017, in Abu Dhabi.
The "most wood collected in three minutes in Minecraft (PC)" is 104.
28. UAE - Largest synchronized car dance
UAE's National Day and Dubai Police were on fire this year.
On December 1, 2017, the Guinness World Records of "largest synchronized car dance," which consisted of 143 cars, was awarded to Dubai Police.
29. UAE - Largest computer security lesson (single venue)
In association with Emirates Youth Council, Abu Dhabi Police and ACTVET broke the Guinness World Record for the "largest computer security lesson" and it consisted of 2,574 people.
30. UAE - Heaviest aircraft pulled over 100 m by a team (male)
Dubai Police once again proved to be the toughest, most tenacious force in the UAE this year.
On November 9, 2017, and during Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30, they broke the Guinness World Record for the "heaviest aircraft pulled over 100 m," weighing 302.68 tonnes.
31. UAE - Largest stencil
During the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Dubai on April 8, 2017, Iconix, ProWalls, and UAE Graffiti Team broke the Guinness World Record for the "largest stencil" which measures 11.13 m².
32. UAE - Longest greetings card mosaic
During mother's day celebrations on March 21, 2017, at Dalma Mall in the UAE, the Guinness World Record for the "longest greeting card" was awarded to the mall.
It measured 150.25 m and took over 15,000 greeting cards to get it done.
33. UAE - Largest continuous concrete pour
From May 18 to 20, 2017, the Guinness World Record of "largest continuous concrete pour," which was 21,580 m³, was awarded to Abdul Wahed Bin Shabib, RALS Contracting L.L.C, and Alfa Eng. Consultant in the UAE.
34. UAE - Fastest time to type a text message on a mobile phone using Swype technology
Pakistani Abdul Basit Siddiqi Ashiq Muhammad broke the Guinness World Record for the "fastest time to type a text message on a mobile using Swype technology" in 17.5 seconds on May 22, 2017.
35. UAE - Largest plastic bottle mosaic
University of Sharjah and Masafi Co.LLC in the UAE gathered over 100 students and used 40,400 bottles to break the Guinness World Record for the "largest plastic bottle mosaic," which measured at 149.49 m².
36. UAE - Longest underwater walk with one breath (female)
At 69.40 meters, Italian Marina Kazankova broke the Guinness World Record for the "longest underwater walk with one breath (female)" on October 27, 2017.
37. UAE - Largest whiteboard
Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), in the UAE, celebrated their "Year of Giving" by organizing "innovation week" events and breaking the Guinness World Record for the "largest whiteboard," which measured 114.3 m².
38. UAE - Most knuckle push-ups (one leg raised, carrying 40 lb pack) in one minute
Iraqi Jarjees Rashed broke the Guinness World Record for the "most knuckle push-ups with one leg raised and carrying a 40 lb pack in one minute" - 49 total push-ups - in Dubai, UAE on August 20, 2017.
39. UAE - Fastest time to complete 50 football passes
Kushtrim Hetemi and Labinot Zeneli, both from Kosovo, broke the Guinness World Record for the "fastest time to complete 50 football passes" - which was set in 27.39 seconds - on November 18, 2017, during Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30.
40. Egypt - Breakdance - Fastest 10 meters spider walk
Set to challenge himself, Egyptian Mohammed Mujahid broke the Guinness World Record for the "fastest 10 meters spider walk" in 5.65 seconds on March 15, 2017.
41. Egypt - Greatest distance on a motocross bike in 24 hours (individual)
Egyptian Ali Abdo Ali had to put a lot of work and effort into breaking the Guinness World Record for the "greatest distance on a motocross bike in 24 hours," which was 613.59 km, on June 29, 2017.
42. Syria - Most two-finger push-ups (one arm) in one minute
Syrian Abdollah Husain Skaty worked for months to break the Guinness World Record of "most two-finger push-ups (one arm) in one minute."
On June 25, 2017, Skaty did 52 push-ups with one arm, using only two fingers.
43. Qatar - Most contributions to a painting by numbers
Prior to celebrations of Qatar's National Day, from December 9 to 17, 2017, the Guinness World Record of "most contributions to a painting by numbers" was achieved with the help of 13,284 people.
The whole painting measured 7.32 m x 10.80 m.
44. Qatar - Longest selfie stick
Sky Climbers 2nd graduation ceremony, on September 19, 2017, was celebrated by breaking the Guinness World Record for the "longest selfie stick measures" which measured 18 m.
45. Kuwait - Largest bottle cap sculpture
Eman Barbar and Salmiya Secondary School in Kuwait achieved the Guinness World Record for the "largest bottle cap sculpture" on June 20, 2017, and it consisted of 162,970 bottle caps.
46. Kuwait - Largest prize-linked bank account payout
Gulf Bank in Kuwait broke the Guinness World Record of "largest prize-linked bank account payout" which stood at KWD 1,000,000 ($3,269,680), on January 5, 2017.
47. Algeria - Most people washing dishes simultaneously
After an Iftar meal on June 15, 2017, Henkel (Algeria) and Pril-Isis broke the Guinness World Record of "most people washing dishes simultaneously" with the help of 412 people.
48. Oman - Largest LEGO flag
On Oman National Day, November 18, 2017, Oman Avenues Mall broke the Guinness World Record for the "largest LEGO flag" which measured 2.33 m tall and 4.12 m wide.
49. Bahrain - Biggest awareness lecture on diabetes
On World Diabetes Day, November 14, 2017, the Bahraini Health Ministry broke the Guinness World Record for the "biggest awareness lecture on diabetes" with 1,577 attendees.
