We've all seen how crazy auctions in the Middle East can be. Now, Kuwait has joined in on the fun.
In an auction held in Kuwait, a pigeon, locally known as Gallabi, was sold for a record 23,000 Kuwaiti dinars ($76,330). The video of the auction went viral on social media, garnering over 3,000 views on Instagram .
Lots of people on social media have criticized the auction, arguing that the money could have put to more worthy use.
“His brain is as small as that of a pigeon,” one said, according to Gulf News . “He should have offered the money to the poor and the needy who would put it to a good use and help themselves, instead of wasting them on a bird.”
The Gallabi breed, formally known as the Galati Roller, is one of the most expensive pigeons in the world, mainly for its air acrobatics performance.
The pigeon is a domesticated breed originating in Galati Country, Romania.

In 2015, Dubai's Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum's racing helmet was put up for sale at a charity auction, selling for $6.5 million.
Earlier this year, a businessman paid $4.9 million for a Sharjah No. 1 license plate.
But the craziest auction must have been this one: Egypt's president Sisi was auctioned on eBay after a speech, in which he said: “If I could sell myself to benefit my homeland, God knows I would have done it.”
