When Palestinian engineer, Mohammad Lahlouh, decided to propose to the woman he calls "the love of his life," he made the proposal extra special.

That woman, radio host Tamara Habaybe, was hosting an episode of her show live on air when Lahlouh walked into the studio and proposed to her as thousands tuned in.

The heartwarming proposal was captured on camera and a video of it has now gone viral on social media.

Since it was posted on Facebook late on Thursday, it has garnered over 890,000 views.

Naturally, people had a lot to say on social media

You'd think that comments under a proposal video would be all about congratulating the couple, right?

Well, this wasn't quite the case here.

Out of the thousands of people who left comments under the video, many criticized the proposal, calling it "unIslamic" and "inappropriate."

A few even called the couple out for hugging each other.

"How could he hug her like that? This is against religion and sharia."

"They have no shame"

"This is against our values and traditions"

Not all the comments were critical and hateful though. Many absolutely loved the proposal and a few even hit back at haters.

Many loved the proposal

"His idea is amazing!"

Others defended the couple

"Our countries are never going to develop if we continue to be this regressive. What did the man do to deserve all this backlash? He just proposed to a woman he fell in love with. Everyone's free to do what they want, instead of criticizing people's actions, go read a self help book maybe it'll help you out a little."

"If you didn't like the video, it's just because you're jealous!"

"What's all the fuss about? The man fell in love with the woman and proposed to her, there's nothing wrong with that"
