Everyone is always so preoccupied with Dubai's record-breaking buildings, achievements and success stories. All those things are great, but despite what you may think, the country does have some rich history as well.

The Dubai Creek is one of those things. Separating Dubai into two major districts, Bur Dubai and Deira, the creek is the place where Dubai's connection to the outside world began.

Although it has become a place where you can shop for spices, gold and even catch a fine dinner, the creek holds an interesting historical context.
