If you've watched The Simpsons and you're Lebanese, then surely you've related to a number of scenes ... without being able to pinpoint the reason why. 

Well, we're here to answer that for you. There are certain habits the characters of the show exhibit that all Lebanese nationals can relate to.

1. When Lebanese phrases just don't translate well

This happens often when out with a non-Arabic speaker and certain phrases come in handy ... except they don't translate well in English.

You end up saying things like "come every day" instead of "you're welcome" because your brain literally translates phrases to English.

2. Laws exist, but really no one abides by them

When laws prohibit Lebanese people from doing certain things, the urge to actually do them quadruples. 

If a sign says "keep out" ... Lebanese will always read it "Enter. I'm a sign, not a cop."

3. People, bikes, cars, motorcycles, skateboards all commute on just one road

Because of this, you end up with road rage like no other. You yell and cuss out every single living or non-living thing that comes in your way.

4. You bond with people over food

If it's not full-on Lebanese "khabsa" style - where your plate has fattouch, tabbouleh, lahme nayye, hummus, sujuk all jumbled up together - then you're going to have a tough time making friends.

6. Waking up in a Lebanese home is never peaceful

For some reason, mothers prefer talking on the phone right outside your room when they know you're sleeping ... and not to forget the vacuum sessions at 8:30 A.M. on a Saturday.

7. We talk in CAPS LOCK all the time, whether angry or happy

We were born with incredibly high-pitched voices ... so people assume we're shouting all the time. In reality, we just talk like that.
