Whether it's on the red carpet or a fashion runway, there are always designers and celebrities whose ideas make for unique fashion statements that are nothing short of extraordinary.
From an LED light dress to a haute couture creation completely made out of soap, here are a few head-turning moments that took the world of fashion by storm:
1. The LED Dress
American singer Katy Perry turned heads when she arrived at the red carpet of the 2010 Costume Institute (MET) Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Why?
She arrived wearing a pink and white creation designed by wearable-tech company CuteCircuit complete with rainbow-colored LEDs.
2. The Soap Dress
In collaboration with "Lux" and inspired by the brand's fragrances, Lebanese designer Abed Mahfouz designed the world's first soap dress.
The creation showcased last month at Fashion Forward Dubai and is a breathtaking, unique fashion statement in its own right.

Her outfit was completely made out of raw meat, heels included.

5. The American Express Card Dress
When Australian costume designer Lizzy Gardiner won an Oscar at the 67th Academy Awards in 1995 for her work in the film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, her win wasn't the only reason she made the news.
The other reason? She was wearing a dress made of 254 American Express Gold cards.
6. The Cape Dress
Nicki Minaj's red Versace Cape dress at the 2012 Grammy awards caught everyone by surprise.
She also caused quite a stir after arriving at the event with a date dressed up in a papal costume.
Talk about unique fashion statements.
