New Year's Eve is right around the corner, and that means decision time: Where will you be welcoming in the New Year? While there's no shortage of parties – fancy, chill, dance, family-oriented, etc – to choose from in Cairo, maybe it'd be nice to start off the New Year on a different note this time?

1. A gathering on a felucca

Let's face it, New Year bashes can get a bit too hectic too quickly. Also, screaming on top of your lungs is not all that ideal, especially when you need your voice the very next day.

A small gathering of friends, with the music of your choice on a Nile boat ride, is definitely hard to beat.

2. A cozy dinner

3. Mokkatam Mountains

I think the image pretty much speaks for itself.

4. Royal Maxim Palace

Because even though we should all feel like kings and queens, we don't have to like it.

5. Head to the after parties

By then, half the crowd is probably passed out in different places, making it possible for you and your friends to unleash your inner Gaga.

6. Midnight swim

Ditch the traditional "party till you drop" New Year's and instead, start the new year with a relaxing swim.

7. Go Oriental

Belly dancing, oriental music, and shots in a teacup. Enough said.

8. Set up camp in Wadi Degla

To watch the sunset and start star gazing with a loved one is perhaps the best way to start off the New Year.
