It all starts when you hit the 18+ mark. The constant marriage proposals and the endless recommendations start coming in and out of every single conversation you ever have with your mom. This is pretty common all around the Arab world, but in Lebanon our moms have a funny way of delivering the message. What's even funnier is the guys they think you'd be interested in. Here are 7 guys your mom thinks is the one for you:

1. The doctor

You probably know someone who knows this "doctor" and you're more than sure he's the worst match. Unfortunately, no matter what your counter-argument is, the response will always be "but, he's a doctor," as if that changes anything.

2. The cousin

I bet you've all had some conversation along the lines of "this guy is from the family, we know his parents." There's always that one cousin who your mom thinks will give you a good, healthy life, and above all, keep you "within" the family. Although we still do see cousins getting married, it's just not for everyone.

3. The one in Africa

Because well him and his family probably grow money on trees in Africa, but honestly that doesn't cut it. Packing up your entire life and moving to a whole different continent because your potential husband makes loads of money ... no thank you.

4. The 'eben halel' one

It's kinda hard to trust what the older generation's idea of "eben halel" actually means. Yeah their judgement is usually on point, but defining a good person remains extremely relative.

5. The 'Eben 3ayle'

But, aren't we all sons and daughters of families?

6. The one who will keep you close to home

When it comes down to you choosing to leave your home country versus staying close to your parents, they'll choose the latter. Always. So, now I'm confused, Africa or no Africa?

7. Shab hlewa

Who has ever agreed with their mom on what defines a good-looking, decent man?
