Fashion enthusiasts were in for a treat at the most talked about fashion event in the Middle East: Fashion Forward Dubai (FFWD).
For its eighth edition, fashion brands showcased their talent, displaying designs for the spring/summer 2017 season. And these 6 GCC-based brands stole the show with their unique creations.
Here are our favorite looks from these homegrown brands that were presented at the latest edition of Fashion Forward:
1. Arwa Al Banawi
The Saudi designer had the swinging 60s on her mind for the spring/summer 2017 collection. We saw sharply tailored suits with a mix of wide-legged trousers and boxy shorts, relaxed shirts, blazer-style dresses and belted jumpsuits. Our favorite part in this collection was the fun bold prints and the sweet pastel colors on some of the suits.
2. Maram
The models in Maram’s show looked like Grecian goddesses emerging from the deep sea, dressed in lighter than air dresses, asymmetric skirts teamed with sexy cropped tops and ruffled, off the shoulder maxi dresses. The Egyptian designer looked back on ancient Greece for this collection which delighted us in a dreamy color palette of light blue, navy, gray, and white.
3. KAGE
KAGE featured a playful 80s girl-style, chasing rainbows in stripy shorts teamed with simple shirts accented with ruffled sleeves, long skirts and cute slip dresses, all in pretty cotton candy colors and touches of gray. That was the message from KAGE’s spring/summer 2017 collection, which stayed true to the Dubai based brand’s identity of an edgy, care-free style.
4. Kristina Fidelskaya
Oozing femininity and timeless elegance, Kristina Fidelskaya‘s models strutted down the runway in ultra light chiffon dresses, flowing skirts, relaxed silk shirts and wide trousers. But the stars of the show were the metallic pieces in gold and bronze tones such as the blazer-inspired gold dress, cinched at the waist with a wide belt … it’s a must-have, no doubt!
5. House of Nomad
If there is one thing we can count on from House of Nomad, it’s their signature sports-lux style, highlighted by very wearable and very contemporary pieces. For their spring/summer 2017 collection the Dubai-based designer duo collaborated with Reebok MENA. The result was fabulous stripy dresses, tennis inspired short skirts, colorful bomber jackets and a very yellow jumpsuit! Major street-style alert here!
6. HZ by Hissa Zainal
Doha-based designer Hissa Zainal offered beautiful pieces in neutral tones that stole our hearts with 3D flower appliqué, modest long sleeved dresses and sporty-chic looks. It’s the perfect brand for the modern, on-the-go woman.
