Over the weekend, Canadian rapper Drake held a concert in Paris, France, during which he stood in solidarity with the #50Lives that were lost in the horrific mosque shooting in New Zealand.

During Friday prayers, a gunman opened fire "for ten to 15 minutes" in two New Zealand mosques, leaving 50 people dead and tens seriously injured.

Drake paid tribute to all those affected by the attack. Footage of Drake's tribute was first caught by Twitter user @dilandenizfam - and gained traction almost immediately.

"I saw some really terrible things happened in New Zealand, I just want to talk about it because a lot of my friends and a lot of people I work with are from a Muslim background," the rapper said.

"I want you to know, that when there's terrible things going on in the world, you know, we can still look around this room tonight and see something beautiful because we've got all people of all races, all places, all religions and look, we're in here showing love tonight," he added.

"So, I want to send my love to all the families that were affected. We're praying for you and will spread more love just like this across the world. Paris, I'm proud of you all tonight. I love you all."

Internet users were quick to express their respect and love for Drake for speaking about love, solidarity, and coexistence.

"Drake, I love you man"

"Makes me love him ten times more"

"This is why I love Drake"

"Take notes. Use your platform wisely"

"Proof that it's not about religion, it's about humanity"

The attack, which has been described as the country's worse mass shooting, took place during Friday prayers in the city of Christchurch. Footage of the shootings were apparently live-streamed by one of the attackers, and New Zealand police immediately urged internet users to stop circulating any footage related to the attack.

In the wake of the shooting, many people worldwide chose to respond with acts of kindness. British national Andrew Graystone was among those. The man was photographed standing outside a mosque in Manchester with a placard in his hands that read:

"You are my friends. I will keep watch while you pray."
