Egypt's internet speed could be used as torture.

Surfing the web, playing an online game or just watching a YouTube video can quickly turn from a fun time ... into a major hassle, not to mention the buffering time a whole movie or downloading anything would take.

That's why no one was surprised when Egypt scored the lowest average internet speed with 1.7 MBPS among other countries in 2016, according to We Are Social and Akamai

Even these extremely slow things are faster ...

1. Teta behind the wheels

Bless their overprotective hearts, but they can really be slow drivers.

A trip that usually take 30 mins could easily stretch beyond your youth. Hell you could end up becoming a grandparent yourself by the end of it. Even if she's sitting anywhere else in the car (probably front seat, she called shotgun 70 years ago), she controls the speed.

But STILL FASTER than Egypt’s internet.

2. The plot of 30 full episodes of an Egyptian Drama

Ohh, wait! Actually, it’s even slower than a full season of a Turkish drama.

Boredom is futile, kill me now!

3. Your pet turtle

Yea, it’s a cliché. But I remember leaving my turtle at a certain spot ... and two days later, same spot.

Similar to downloading in Egypt ...

4. Getting your documents approved at The Mogamma in Cairo

Everyone that stepped inside hell ... I mean The Mogamma in Tahrir Square, knows you're gonna be stuck inside for a while.

This is due to an atrocious bureaucracy system, and long queues of citizens or even expats longing for their papers to be done or approved, which could take up to several weeks or months.

Streaming any video is still slower in Egypt.

5. Windows 95

Systems are becoming faster and more advanced with time, but internet speed in Egypt would slap you back to the stone age, and make you feel like you’re using an internet version of Windows 95, and suffering from slow response. Modem dial up tone…

BONUS: … Sorry your internet speed is so slow this bonus point cannot be loaded

All we need is just to simply watch videos without interruption, and to play online games without lagging. Is that so much to ask?!
