For almost 10 years now, Egyptian author and screenwriter Ahmed Mourad has captivated us with some of the best and finest novels, ranging from fantasies to thrillers. 

Mourad has already authored five books and plans to release his sixth title soon. He is also accredited with the screenplay El Asleyeen that was played in cinemas and ultimately earned him a respectable 8/10 star review.

One of the books Mourad wrote was adapted as a TV series and another one as a movie.

Diamond Dust is Mourad's second book after Vertigo and he chose to take the same path of crime and thriller. 

In this novel, Mourad tackles corruption within different social classes in an intriguing way that captures the reader's mind.

Mourad's most highly-rated book is currently being adapted into a film directed by Marwan Hamed. This will be Hamed's third collaboration with Mourad and stars such as Asser Yassin, Khaled El Sawy and Menna Shalabi.

2. The Blue Elephant

In his third novelAhmed Mourad takes us behind the scenes of a strange world that he spent two years studying in detail. 

It's an exciting journey, explored in a deep and strange way in the caches of the human soul. 

The Blue Elephant was adapted into a movie directed by Marwan Hamed, marking their first collaboration, and starring Karim Abdel Aziz, Khaled El Sawy and Nelly Karim.

3. Vertigo

Vertigo, Mourad's first published novel in 2007, enjoyed critical and commercial success in Egypt and was translated into English, French, and Italian. 

It follows a photographer in a high-class Cairo nightclub who witnesses his friend murdered in a fight between young rival businessmen. 

A tense thriller that reveals contemporary Egypt and Cairo's seedy nightlife. 

In 2012, Vertigo was adapted into a TV series starring Hend Sabry.

4. 1919

His fourth novel, 1919, was published and released in 2014. 

The novel's events take place in 1919; the Egyptian Revolution against British occupation following the British order to exile revolutionary leader Saad Zaghlul and other Wafdists.
