Born to an Egyptian father and a Spanish mother in Spain, Alba was strongly impacted by the Egyptian uprising, which played a major part in her decision to enter politics, according to Egyptian Streets .
Alba followed in her fellow Egyptians' footsteps as she too took to the streets of Spain to protest the high unemployment rate and austerity, her father said.
Podemos was formed from these protests and it quickly expanded in size and popularity, securing five seats in the European parliament.
