In one form or another, street art spans from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings and has existed since ancient times, with some examples dating back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire.

In modern times, however, paint - particularly spray paint - and marker pens have become the most commonly used tools for street artists.

There are many different types and styles of street art and despite the ongoing debate about its direction and definition, the UAE's art scene - with the government's backing for public art, high-profile supporters, residencies from world-renowned artists, and a small but committed community of local talent - is rapidly growing and developing.

Using Samsung's latest Galaxy S9 smartphone, we made it out to several locations across the UAE to capture the country's mind-blowing street art.
