The American University of Beirut has recently been ranked number 1 in the Arab world for 2017.

While it is a great privilege to attend and study in this prestigious academic institution, some of its students tend to go a little overboard ... to say the least.

Here are 11 annoying things most AUB students tend to do:

1. They will tell you they are/were AUB students

No matter what the topic is, the word "AUB" will find its way into the conversation.

Just give them a minute or two...

2. AUB students *must* mention that they are AUB students in their social media bios

"If you don't tell us in your bio that you are AUB students, will the university drop you from the semester?"

This applies to all social media accounts like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. You'll find words like "AUB student", "#AUB", and "American University of Beirut".

3. Same goes for AUB alumni

Even if the person graduated more than 10 years ago, you'll probably find "studied xxxxx at AUB" or "proud AUB alumnus/alumna."

4. Let's talk about their nagging

The midterms nagging. The finals nagging. The projects nagging. The grades nagging. The "I don't feel like walking all the way down to the lower campus" nagging.

Then you have the ones who nag about the naggers...

5. They call themselves "AUBites"

As in AUB bites? Kay...

6. They like showing off their English language skills

As a rule of thumb, every sentence spoken in Arabic has to include at least one English word.

7. They don't know how to speak Arabic all of a sudden

"An AUB student eating remmen (pomegranate) tweeted "remaining"."

8. "3enna bel AUB"

"Two AUB students having a conversation in the van:

"At AUB..."

"Same for us at AUB..."

Lord forgive them for they do not know what they're doing."

9. The inside jokes and references

"Professor asking AUB students: in which era was AUB built?

Students: In the era of Salah Eddine el AUB (pun for Ayoubi)"

10. They suddenly want to look cool

"I love how AUB students, after their first semester, start asking everyone they know whether they smoke weed or if they are straight."

11. Special lingo

Words like "metet", "bro", "man," "bchil," and "hlof" are part of a regular sentence.
