For the first time since 1957, Saudi women finally hit the kingdom's roads on Sunday, June 24. This came months after a royal decree granted them their right to drive in September last year.

For decades before the historic decision finally took effect, Saudi women were strictly banned from driving in their own country.

Hundreds of them had tirelessly fought to end the ban for years and finally saw their activism materialize. To celebrate that, local and international artists created powerful artworks capturing their incredible, collective win.

Here are a few of them:

1. The end of an era...

2. And the beginning of another for Saudi women

3. 2018... the year of Saudi girls...

4. "The universe surrounds me and my road calls my name"

5. Finally...

6. Artists captured history as it's made...

7. With powerful, moving artworks...

8. Queens on the road...

9. Move aside...

10. "We can do this"
