Every Ramadan, millions of viewers in Egypt and the Middle East await one of the most prominent Ramadan traditions in the region, watching series and shows on TV. A tradition that has been heavily criticized, but nonetheless each year people continue to gorge on what production companies have to offer.

Whether comedy or drama, the Ramadan TV show scene has seen many hits and many misses over the years. Many have long accused the shows of lacking quality or being superficial and plain ridiculous. And while occasionally there are notable productions, some of them are just hilariously bad, in a totally entertaining way. These are 10 of this year's worst.

1. Ramez Wakel El Gaw

The prank show offers nothing new this Ramadan. Photo source: Facebook

Returning for the fifth time this Ramadan is Ramez Galal's prank show. The show is as usual about a crude prank except this time he's convincing celebrities that they're on a plane that's about to crash in Dubai. Yes, because that's what people can't wait to see. Not only is show lacking originality, I'm not entirely sure scaring people to death is very tasteful or funny for that matter.

2. Lamma Tamer Sab Shawqeia

The sequel fails to have the same appeal as previous seasons. Photo source: Episode screenshot

This sequel to the sitcom "Tamer we Shawqeia" is missing something from the somewhat-successful previous seasons: the character Tamer. This version of what happens after Tamer leaves his wife has been left by the audience as well.

3. Yawmiyat Zawga Mafrosa Awy

These "diaries of a really angry wife" are probably getting the audience angry too. Other than the fact that it has horribly acting, this comedy about a couple always fighting due to a supposedly "ideological" conflict is neither funny nor ideological.

4. Ya Ana Ya Enty

There's not much of a plot for this one. Photo source: Facebook

This apparent comedy about socio-economic opposites in Egyptian society does not have much of a plot to speak of, it is hilarious though, hilariously bad.

5. Oreedo Rajolan Part (2)

Yet another sequel with an outdated concept about a mother from a rural background that wants to control her son's marriage and disapproves of his wife. Nothing new here, not much of a plot either.

6. Waly Al-Ahd

The drama has been extensively promoted on MBC Masr. Photo source: Facebook

This drama about family disputes that arise when an evil brother comes to sabotage a happy couple's life is not well-acted and its plot is just an over the top cliche.

7. Hoboot Edterary

One in a series of airplane prank shows. Photo source: Facebook

Another prank show that takes place inside a plane. The passengers here are being fooled into thinking the plane is crashing. Oh wait, that's exactly like the other show.

8. Al Tagrobah Al Khafeya

Guess what this "hidden experiment" is about? A prank, involving a plane. I'm sensing a pattern here but to give them some form of credit, in this show people actually jump off the plane.

9. Mouled we Sahbo Ghayeb

The show can be seen on Al Hayah TV Channel. Photo source: Facebook

This cliched drama about a girl who is thrown into a brave new world has had its fair share of bad reviews, and with good reason. It is indeed an unsightly mess as its title suggests.

10. Mawlana Al-Asheq

The drama tells another story about clashes between the classes. Photo source: Facebook

Although the show is well-produced, it's yet another drama with an outdated concept. It tells the story of the humble microbus driver who falls for the girl who prefers a richer guy over him as a series of ludicrous events and love story cliches unfold. How many times do audiences have to watch that?
