Over the weekend, a Ugandan man who resides in Dubai broke down in tears when he unwrapped an unexpected Christmas present that awaited him at his employer's house.
According to Khaleej Times, David Muyomba, an archives officer at My Dental Clinic in Dubai, couldn't believe what was happening when he lifted the box and found his 15-year-old son Darren, whom he hadn't seen for two years due to difficult financial circumstances, jump out of it.
The founder of the Dubai-based dental clinic, Carl Gorton, and his family arranged the father-son reunion during an early Christmas dinner at their house.
"I almost fainted, I couldn't believe it. I was touching [my son] to make sure he's not a ghost. It took me two days to get over the shock. I haven't shed that [many] tears since my mother passed away," Muyomba told the UAE-based news outlet.
David has been working at the clinic since 2014 and was since unable to see his son due to "changes in the boy's boarding school schedule in Uganda as well as financial restraints".
Carl Gorton witnessed the emotional effect these unfortunate circumstances had on David and therefore decided to fly to Germany to meet David's sister, Linda Ariebu, to arrange a passport, ticket, and visa for his son to fly to Dubai so he can spend Christmas and New Year with his father.
"We all agreed that Christmas was the best timing as it's a time of giving and also because it's an important holiday for David being Christian," Gorton told Khaleej Times.
