The New Suez Canal, a historic accomplishment, was inaugurated Thursday . It was such a huge deal that Aug. 6 was made a national holiday and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi hosted a slew of foreign officials including French President Francois Hollande and Sudani President and rumored war criminal Omar al-Bashir.
Naturally, state-run TV ran a live report of the celebrations for those who couldn't make it. It seemed like a normal day for Egyptians being fed state-propaganda but some people – good people – noticed something pretty off with the channel's reportage.
