While Tyrese Gibson was promoting his new album Black Rose, which topped the Billboard chart at No. 1, in Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi, the Fast and Furious actor and R&B singer pushed his idea to open a film studio there, according to The National .
The pop star announced he would be opening an independent film studio, called Voltron Studios, in the UAE capital to attract more A-list Hollywood films and shows to the country. Gibson made the announcement Thursday while sitting comfortably in a white dashdasha and red gallabya at the Jumeirah Etihad Towers.
Gibson hoped that this move would help change Hollywood's perception of the Middle East by allowing stars to experience it for themselves before proceeding to namedrop a few of his best buds, particularly Will Smith, Drake, and Vin Diesel.
And while The National failed to ask a follow-up question, we didn't have to look very far to get more information on what the star wanted to set in motion. Posting to Instagram (not once, but twice ), he said:
I'm on a mission to change the perceptions of the Middle East - based on my OWN personal experiences - love the #UAE - inshallah I'm going to keep inviting my friends so that they can "feel" the love that I feel... I have a HUGE vision to build a full on movie studio here on the level of Universal studios called #VoltronStudios and do a full film slate deal for #VoltronPictures and design a custom and very detailed tax rebate and incentive program that ALL of America, Bollywood and Europe will come here to experience - I won't stop and won't rest until it happens - every time I come here in not caught up in ANYTHING That one would assume from my post look up my name I'm the #VisionImplementor I've been there done that and I'm grateful for all the love here - I'm on a mission guys..... #VoltronEntertainment
