"Was it appropriate for her to be on camera where there had been yet another shocking slaughter by a Muslim?" Mackenzie wrote, suggesting a hijab-wearing reporter would only "provoke" the people of Nice.

Following his comments, the Channel 4 News spokesperson called it "completely unacceptable, and arguably tantamount to inciting religious and even racial hatred," according to the Huffington Post .

Many have come to show their support for Fatima Manji on social media, because no one deserves such hate.

Many are just telling her to pay no attention to the comments

And they are calling the attack on the journalist a disgrace

Channel 4 news came to her defense 100%

Some just pity Mackenzie... for not knowing how talented Manji is...

And some are comparing Manji to Mackenzie... as if that is even possible

And questioning whether wearing a tie limits Mackenzie's credibility as a reporter?

And of course some are just simply stating facts.

The Nice attacks have sparked other hateful comments from politicians like Newt Gingrich, who called for " testing " every single person in the United States with a Muslim background and the deportation of all those who believe in Shariah.

Australian TV presenter Sonia Kruger also said her country should ban Muslim immigration to the country, believing there is a link between the number of Muslims in a country and terrorist attacks.

Meanwhile, whether or not the Nice attacker was even a practicing Muslim or in any way associated with ISIS has drawn significant skepticism .
