Pamukkale is a spot in Turkey that literally translates to "Cotton Castle." And it's a place that definitely should make your bucket list. 

The unique site is the definition of a geological phenomenon. Afterall, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's also the site of the Greek-Roman city, Hierapolis.

Other than these gorgeous travertines, there are a number of things worth seeing around Pamukkale. These include the 12,000 seat Roman amphitheater of Hierapolis. 

Laodikya (or Laodicea) is also a must-visit spot. It is mentioned in the Bible as one of the seven churches of Revelation.
