No matter how you measure it, Dubai is a hub for tourists.
And according to the Global Destination Cities Index by MasterCard, Dubai was the fourth-most-visited city out of 132 destinations for international travellers, following London, Paris and Bangkok.
How many tourists does it take to be the fourth-most-visited city? Try 13.2 million in 2014. And this year, Dubai is on track to receive 14.3 million international visitors, which means it will have a ratio of 5.7 international overnight visitors per city resident.
That is a lot of out of town guests.
Luckily for Dubai, visitors staying in the city overnight spent $10.9 billion in 2014. That is a lot of Dirhams.
