A Saudi woman decided to go to breakfast without wearing an abaya or hijab. Then the death threats came.

Malak Al Shehri tweeted a photo of herself wearing a colorful dress under a long dark coat, with sunglasses and boots. She shared the image of herself in Riyadh sans hijab and abaya after telling her followers she had gone to breakfast without wearing the traditional attire, according to International Business Times.

Shehri quickly began receiving angry comments under the hashtag:"we demand the imprisonment of the rebel Angel Al Shehri"

"Kill her and throw her corpse to the dogs"

"We want blood"

Others criticized, but with less anger

But many were quick to defend her

"Just imagine one day you slept and then woke up to people calling for your imprisonment only because you changed your clothing. Now you know the extent of the oppression against women in Saudi Arabia."

Some even called for protesting with Shehri

A friend of Shehri told International Business Times that she has since deleted her account.

"So many people retweeted it and what she did reached extremists, so she got threats. She deleted her tweets but they didn't stop, so she deleted her account," Shehri's friend said.
