On April 10, the American rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars will take the stage in Dubai for the first time ever, but they won't be alone. In addition to a supporting performance by the United Arab Emirates rock band Juliana Down, an unknown regional act will have the opportunity to perform at the Dubai World Trade Center with Thirty Seconds to Mars, in front of an audience of some 10,000 fans.
Any band or solo musician from one of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states has the chance to compete to share the Dubai World Trade Center stage. GCC musicians of any age are invited to post a 30-second clip on social media of themselves or their band performing with #MARSBattleoftheBands included.
Music industry professionals such as Virgin Radio’s Kris Fade and Dia Hassan and the lead vocalist of Juliana Down will narrow the submissions down to five finalists. Frontman Jared Leto and the other members of Thirty Seconds to Mars will then choose from the remaining five, selecting the solo-artist or band to share the stage with them in Dubai.
The deadline for submitting a clip is March 23 and the final winner will be announced on April 5.
Thirty Seconds to Mars is a multi-platinum selling and multi-award winning superstar band consisting of brothers Jared and Shannon Leto with lead guitarist Tomo Miličević. The band has sold more than 5 million albums worldwide and boasts over 500 million views on its YouTube videos. With numerous hit singles and consistently sold-out tours, Thirty Seconds to Mars would be an awesome act to open for, or see on stage.
In the meantime, excuse us while we work on our guitar riffs.
