In 2018, 106 years after the Titanic sank, the Titanic II will set sail. Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has began work on a replica of the ship with his company Blue Star Line. The Titanic II is supposed to set sail by 2018, being 270 metres long, 53 metres high, and weighing 40,000 tonnes, according to the Belfast Telegraph .
The replica will have 840 cabins that can hold 2,400 passengers as well as 900 crew members, across nine floors, with 3 classes, just like the original. It will include everything that was in the original, from the Turkish baths to the Edwardian gymnasium. The ship has, however, been updated to meet modern-day maritime safety regulations, which includes having enough lifeboats, among other things. Check out the video showing the renders of the new ship.
The ship is going to set sail from Jiangsu, China, to Dubai, unlike the original's trip from Southampton to New York. Most people on Twitter seemed pretty excited about the idea, while others were scared to get on a ship named after one that sank.
Would you get on the boat?
