Chocolate is there for us in our sadness and happiness alike. Kylie Minogue sang about the boy who is sweet like chocolate. An entire town was transformed because of chocolate in Johnny Depp’s movie "Chocolat." And again of course, Depp was at the forefront of chocolate dazzling shenanigans in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

The mere mention of chocolate makes us pay attention and that’s exactly what happened when we heard of what is being billed as the First Chocolate Museum in the Middle East, opening in Cairo between March 19 th and 21 st.

For three days, the eighth floor of the City Stars mall in Cairo will be transformed into an earthly heaven for all the chocolate fanatics out there. We assume that is a lot of you.

Spanning 4,000 meters, the Chocolate Museum will feature a variety of chocolate artwork, from sculptures to paintings. It will also walk the visitors through 4,000 years of chocolate history dating back to the Mayans and Aztecs.

The Chocolate Museum will naturally lavish its visitors in a wide variety of chocolate brands and flavors, in addition to an ice-cream bar comprising a variety of chocolate flavors that are sure to mesmerize everyone’s taste buds.

As mouthwatering as all the aforementioned sounds, nothing beats the chocolate waterfall and lake that will be included in the museum. Yes, that’s exactly what we said. It seems like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory is no longer confined to our daydream fantasies.

After spending an entire day stuffing yourself with all the goodies cacao can turn into, you would certainly wish it didn’t have to end. That’s why the chefs will be sharing different recipes in what seems to be the real-live version of the movie Chocolat, where chocolate goes with everything. The cacao-coma is not included.

As for the little ones, they’ll be getting their hands dirty as part of the workshops to be provided on chocolate (obviously).

“It’s only temporary but if people like it maybe we’ll make it an annual thing,” says Aly Abdel-Hady, the event's advertising and social media officer, to Cairo Scene.

Further details on the tickets and booking will be announced soon, so stay tuned to the event on Facebook and make sure you don’t miss out.
