It's official. Our favorite boy band "The 5" are staying together.
The former "X Factor Arabia" contestants have signed a recording deal with Sony Music Middle East and will release a new single and music video in September.
Although the group, with members representing Morocco, Algeria, Egypt and Lebanon, didn't win the latest season of X Factor, they definitely stole fans' hearts across the Arab World, igniting a massive social media following.
Following the season finale and Hamza Hawsawi's win, the guys were understandably disappointed but proud of their Saudi Arabian competitor.
After Hawsawi's victory was announced, Adel Echibi, the Moroccan member of The 5 told StepFeed “he’s [Hawsawi] really talented and he’s very gifted. I was so proud to be in competition with him.”
Echibi also hinted at the possibility of the Sony contract saying, "We are still waiting for the answer from the Sony Production. So maybe we will have something.”
It looks like Sony had something for The 5 after all.
"At Sony Music we are passionate about breaking young artists and believe in The X Factor as an unrivaled platform for talent,” General Manager of Sony Music Middle East Mike Fairburn said according to The National.
“We already have some exciting plans in the pipeline for The 5 and are looking forward to working with our partners Platinum Records."
The group continues to be managed by MBC-owned Platinum Records.
Now we just have to contain our excitement until we can hear their new single in September. The anticipation may kill us.
