Good news kids, this film festival is all about you!

Under the theme of "power their imagination", the third Sharjah International Children's Film Festival launched Sunday .

Throughout the festival, interactive workshops and information sessions will provided children with the opportunity to develop skills in scriptwriting, photography, filmmaking, and other media-related arts with the goal of educating children and adults.

SICFF will run for six days and will feature 175 films from more than 20 countries from regions as diverse as Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

"This year the films will be screened publicly in seven cities, as opposed to last year’s five, and will feature in Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan, Kalba, as well as around the city in Sahara Centre and Al Qasba," Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, manager of the festival and wife of Sharjah's ruler, said, according to Gulf News.

Awards will be presented during the festival in the following categories: best short movie, best epic, best animated movie, best fictional film, best documentary, and the best children-produced movie. Winners will receive monetary awards totaling 50,000 AED.
